Glass Enameling
What is Glass Enameling?
Glass enameling is the art of fusing finely ground glass onto metal using high heat. Layers of colorful enamel are carefully applied to metals such as copper, silver, or gold, then fired in a kiln where the glass melts and permanently bonds to the surface. The result is a smooth, durable finish with brilliant color that will not fade over time.
Artists can use enamels to create everything from bold, contemporary jewelry to intricate cloisonné, painted, and textured designs. With an endless palette of colors and techniques, glass enameling beautifully combines the precision of metalworking with the luminous beauty of glass, making each piece a unique work of art.
