You’ll learn how to safely use a frit maker to crush sheet glass into usable frit in about one minute. We will begin the class discussing color blending and mixing choices.
Perfect for artists looking to expand their fused glass techniques, this class offers both practical skill development and also inspiration.
Week 2: Layer Player -August 7th 6pm-7:30pm
Create a watercolor effect, translucency love. Glass is unique in its ability to achieve depth and flow which is something we usually only see in watercolor paintings. Week 3: Feint Paint Design -August 21st 6pm-7:30pm
Design a fused glass palette including what looks like paint but is not. This technique when done correctly opens up a world of possibilities. We will be using specialty glass paint to achieve images that go beyond the basics of color blocking and allow for delicate design and shading.
Week 4: Dichro Flow -September 4th 6pm-7:30pm
Effects with dichroic glass, molten magic. Dichroic glass is a composite glass that comes in a variety of colors and effects and adds a magical iridescent and color shifting effect to your creation. The glass achieves this effect by having stacked layers of metal oxides. In this class we will learn all about this unique material and how to incorporate it into a project.
