This series is especially recommended for two kinds of folks: plant-lovers and those who have a hard time keeping plants alive. I am both.
If you’ve taken the stained glass flower class and loved it, you already have one step in and are going to love the new additions. But no prior experience is necessary to take these classes: The Exotic Garden Collection is designed to be mix-and-match, beginner-to-intermediate level stained glass workshops where you can sign up for classes individually; or all of them (and avail a discount), level-skip as needed and still end up with a unique, gorgeous glass garden that outlasts our New England good weather.
In most classes, we start with pre-cut glass—then foil, burnish, flux, solder, patina and polish them into flat flowers, lilypads, flowering cacti with thorny embellishments, or multi-layered succulents using the Tiffany-style copper foil method. For succulent classes, we also assemble planters.
For one of these classes, you learn to cut glass into Sansevieria leaves, grind into shape and plant them into planters.
Instead of focusing on prescriptive patterns, you will explore conceptual structure and the chemistry principles behind this science-heavy art form so that you can apply them to any piece you make thereafter. No prior experience needed—just bring your curiosity, playfulness, and a willingness to push some creative boundaries.
We provide all tools and safety gear, and ask that you practice adequate caution around sharp and hot objects.
