Embark on a journey into the world of large-scale glassblowing with our "Take the Extra Gather" class. Designed for enthusiasts ready to expand their skills, this intensive workshop focuses on mastering the techniques required to handle larger amounts of glass while focusing specifically on creating vessels. Date: July 22nd Time: 6:00pm-9:00pm Duration: 1 Day Intensive What You Will Learn: Handling Larger Amounts of Glass: Explore the challenges and techniques of working with extra gathers of molten glass. Choosing and Forming Vessels: Each participant selects a vessel shape they are comfortable forming and practices taking an extra gather to enhance their skills. Managing Heat and Weight: Learn strategies to manage the additional heat and weight of the glass, ensuring comfort and safety during the process. Team Collaboration: Develop proficiency in assisting fellow students to manage heat exposure and to turn the pipe effectively during the glassblowing process for each other. Materials Required: All necessary materials and tools will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their creativity and enthusiasm for mastering larger-scale glass vessels. Who Should Attend: This class is suitable for any student who has finished the 6 week intermediate class and is looking to refine their skills in handling larger amounts of molten glass. Prior experience in basic glassblowing techniques is required.
